Roofing in Frisco, TX — a new roof is not a hail-proof roof
Frisco has the newest housing stock in the metroplex, which is exactly why damage goes unreported here. Homeowners assume a five-year-old roof cannot be hurt. Hail does not check the build date.
The “my roof is new” problem
This is the single biggest reason Frisco homeowners miss claimable damage. The roof went on in 2016, the house still looks new, and the assumption is that there is nothing to check. But hail damage is a function of stone size, impact velocity and shingle condition — not roof age. A one-and-a-half inch stone driven by a strong downdraft will bruise the mat of a nearly new architectural shingle, and that bruise will shorten the roof's life by a decade whether or not anyone ever looks at it.
Production building and shingle grade
Frisco went up fast. Fast building means production-grade materials selected on cost, which in roofing usually means the entry tier of an architectural line. Those shingles perform acceptably in normal weather and noticeably worse under impact than the mid-tier product most homeowners would choose for themselves. It is worth knowing which one is actually on your house before a storm rather than after.
Speed of construction leaves specific marks
The defects we find on newer Frisco roofs are rarely the shingle itself. They are installation details: nails driven high above the nailing strip so the tab is only held by the sealant, valley metal cut short, kick-out flashing missing where a roof line meets a wall, ridge vent installed without a wide enough slot cut beneath it. None of these show from the ground, all of them shorten the roof's life, and several of them may still be inside a builder warranty window worth checking.
Warranty is not the same as coverage
Homeowners in newer neighbourhoods often assume the manufacturer warranty means a damaged roof gets replaced free. It does not. Manufacturer warranties cover manufacturing defects, not storm damage, and most are prorated so the payout falls sharply after the first years. Storm damage is an insurance question and installation error is a contractor question. Knowing which one you have is the point of the inspection.
Documentation matters most when the roof is new
If your roof is genuinely undamaged, an inspection gives you a dated report that says so — which is useful the next time somebody knocks on the door claiming your neighborhood was hit. And if there is damage, catching it while the roof is still young is the difference between an insurance claim and a full out-of-pocket replacement eight years from now.

Frisco questions
What homeowners in Frisco ask us
My roof is only a few years old. Can hail really damage it?
Yes. Hail damage depends on stone size and impact velocity, not roof age. A one-and-a-half inch stone bruises the mat of a nearly new architectural shingle, and that bruise takes years off the roof whether or not anyone looks at it.
Doesn't my manufacturer warranty cover this?
Not for storm damage. Manufacturer warranties cover manufacturing defects, and most are prorated so the value drops sharply after the early years. Storm damage is an insurance matter; bad installation is a contractor matter.
What goes wrong on newly built roofs?
Installation details rather than materials — nails driven above the nailing strip, valley metal cut short, missing kick-out flashing where the roof meets a wall, ridge vent fitted without an adequate slot cut. None of it is visible from the ground.
Should I bother if my neighbours' roofs look fine?
Hail falls in narrow, uneven swaths — one street can be hit hard while the next is untouched, and two houses on the same street can differ. The only way to know about your roof is to look at your roof.
